Respondent Participant Guide: Screeners, Sessions and Incentives
How Respondent research participation works, including selection uncertainty, fulfillment fees and payment timing.
Updated November 4, 2026 · IT9X EditorialApplying is not the same as being selected
Respondent connects participants with surveys, interviews, focus groups and other research. A profile may receive matching invitations, but researchers select participants according to each project’s criteria. Screeners are generally unpaid, and completing one does not guarantee an invitation or incentive. This selection step is a central limitation when estimating the time value of the platform.
Complete the agreed session
The project listing should describe the method, time and incentive. Participants should keep communication inside the platform, attend at the agreed time and retain the project details until payment is resolved. Respondent’s terms make researcher confirmation important, so an advertised incentive should not be represented as earned before the session has been completed and confirmed.
How incentives are delivered
Current help documentation says incentives are issued through Tremendous after attendance or completion is confirmed. It describes a typical seven-to-ten-business-day window and a fulfillment fee of five percent with a one-dollar minimum. Redemption options can vary by country or region, so a specific gift card or cash-equivalent option should not be assumed for every participant.
Set realistic expectations
Respondent says matching depends on background and project demand. Specialized interviews may advertise larger incentives than short tasks, but those figures are not daily-income guarantees. A careful user should count the time spent on unpaid screeners, verify the redemption option available locally and avoid taking payment outside the platform.
